I had been carrying the RocX3 as my most OS mid for a while, until I went on a trip to Maine and packed my Drone instead. The Drone was allowing me to have a FH approach game, that my Champ Rhyno just couldn't. It now may face being kicked out of the bag for a Stego/Mortar combo. I would like to see a more traditional style mid that is beefy, but comes in both beaded and beadless versions. I'd cycle the beaded version, and have a beadless or two for FHs, especially if the bead was large.

The funny thing is that a lot of the popular overstable putters are really just small diameter overstable mids. But it's more fashionable on DGCR to throw putters than mids, so Zones get lots of love while Gators get panned. In reality, they do the exact same thing.

Personally I like to throw putters backhand and mids forehand, if given the choice. I still find room for an Anvil and a Slammer in my bag, because I prefer to throw them on different shots. I'm sure that's more down to my personal preference than any difference in what the discs are actually capable of doing in sufficiently skilled hands, though.

Wasp?

My mid setup is pretty simple. Gator, Prophecy (Χ3), Rhyno, Wizard. These last two are putters, O know. The OS slot is important and now we have more options.

also more of a straight/stable than true OS, wouldn't you say?

My pointing to the Mortar is oversimplifying, it was just a recent example of an OS selling well.

It's just weird to me that so many manufacturers are choosing to plug that gap NOW, after leaving it alone for a long time.
I mean for a long time there was like one or two options mostly from older manufactures of discs. Innova had 2 discs, Gator & ROC. The other brand That had about that many was Discraft with 3 models, from least to most: Wasp, Buzz OS and the Drone. So those were the brands with the most models of Discs in the OS midrange category for a long time until the 2010's now with the brands we see making more discs in the last few years. Most other Manufacturers had one disc in this category.

Seems like Mortar mania hit a little while back and it's been a slew of em ever since.

You've got a point there; responding to a disc from 2015 is a bit delayed. But, wait, the Mortar came out in 2013.

What year did Innova start slapping “3” tops on everything? It’s only a matter of time before we see a Wraith3 lol
