Default Need a new long turnover driver

I need to find a long range turnover driver that I can throw high and hard and have it do a deep S curve. I don't like throwing anhyzer, as my form and body prefers hyzerflips. Average distance is 475' or so.

For the last year, I've been using champ shrykes for this role but I'm finding them more and more inconsistent. What drivers are similar in flight but are more consistent from throw to throw? All ideas are appreciated!

The Tern.

Alternatively, with your power, you can get try a little more overstable disc. Flex a DDx, Destroyer, lighter weight Boss, etc.

I would try a Tern and a P-line DD2.

In what way are champ Shrykes inconsistent? Are they turning too much and not coming back? Honestly, the Shryke is the best long turnover driver I can think of. However, you may have too much arm for them. I throw a G* Shryke for turnover bombs, and it will reach just shy of your distance. I won't call it a ridiculously consistent disc, but I also don't think turnover drives are consistent shots overall.

IMO, any turnover driver is going to have some inconsistency. Its an understable disc and you're at the mercy of the wind and your release angle.

The DDX is a good suggestion since it will hook up late in flight and come back. A Tern sometimes won't. The DDX and Tern are basically the same disc, but the DDX has more late fade. With your distance a DDX would bomb. Probably not as far as Shryke, but close.

A Ballista might work too. Those things bomb out for days and then have a nice late fade.

DD2 is a tantalizing choice, but for me that thing was flippier/more inconsistent than a Shryke. They absolutely bomb though. Super understable and fast.

shrykes are really good for that shot. The best way to tell their stability is the shoulder. The higher shoulder they are the more overstable they are. A good step up is the pharaoh which is a shryke bottom with a different top, basically a super high shoulder shryke.

Tern probably won't hold up to that power. I would try a Pharaoh.

They either turn too much (thrown flat) or get really overstable. Some of this is admittedly operator error but at least some of it is on the disc.

I'm looking for a disc to predictably roll right and try and fight out towards the end. I love the shryke for D, but for this shot, I need something a bit more reliable.

For instance, at a local course, I go over top the brush and have it flex to come back to the fairway. I was probably 475' up the fairway but 50' left, in the next fairway. It just didn't flip. On several other, similar shots it did, mostly a bit too much and didn't flex.

The Pharaoh is an awesome disc. Mine is 159g in I-blend plastic, but those with more armspeed might want to go with the S-blend and a heavier weight. Shryke-'ish', but better (hard to verbalize it more than that, but there it is).

The DDx is allegedly the Tern with the Anhyzer top (?) and it is definitely more stable than the Tern itself. So if the OP's armspeed is too much for the Champion Terns or any plastic Tern in heavier weights, I'd suggest the DDx next, and then move to more OS discs for flexing.
