Default Orange Dot on map

Hey, Does anyone know what this orange dot/circle is on this hole sign? It is on several that I have seen, and does not seem to indicate anything on the course.

I feel like I am setting myself up for a punchline. What's a Mando?

A spot with often an indicator as to the way a player has to go to around the sign during tournament play though some courses keep up the Mandatory sign all year like this course. I know we had a yellow ribbon way up in a tree to indicate to not go that way, the ribbon was taken off at one point as they had marked trees that were to come down in this way but by then the open gap that could shave a stroke off had closed up with other bushes/trees and other plants.

Mando is short for a mandatory, i.e., an object (pole, tree, etc.) that requires you to throw to a particular side (or rarely, sides) in order to complete the hole.

Slang for mandatory. It's a feature of a hole that forces play to a particular direction. So if that's a mando, it's probably a mando that requires players to throw to the left side of it. Usually the mando is denoted by an arrow though.

Mandos are typically used to add difficulty, take away "cheater" routes that defeat the intended hole design, or to create a safety buffer (e.g., throw to the left of this tree in order to prevent people from getting to close to a playground area or roadway).

Mandos are usually identified on the course by a colored arrow, sign, tape, or some other method so that you can look down the fairway and say "Oh, that's the mando...the arrow is pointing left, so I must go to the left of that object."

It could also be the 300 foot marker? Is it on other tee signs?

Not on other signs, but no mando, at least not in the pictures on this site:
