Default Atlanta (5/31-6/1)

I'm taking a short trip to Atlanta and bringing a small set of discs with me. I'll probably have time for one round each day. I'll be staying 5 miles from Sun Trust Park (I-285/75). Where should I play, and where should I avoid?

There’s Hobbs Farm, which is west of the city. It’s a great course but kinda far out. Perkerson Park is in the city and I hear it’s good but I’ve never been. Oregon Park is also very good. It’s not too far from Atlanta.

I second the nomination for Hobbs Farm. It is my favorite course played so far and on the DGCR top 25 list. N. Georgia Canopy Tours is also awesome (and in my personal top 10 played). Both are a little hike from ATL but worth the drive IMO.

Oregon Park is a decent play and it's a lot closer than Hobbs. Of course, Hobbs is a far superior course, so it could be worth the drive.

so many great courses in the Atlanta Area. Likely within 45 minutes I can recommend Oregon Park, East Roswell Park, Etowah and Perkerson. Inside 90 minutes i can recommend stellar courses Hobbs, Mulberry and Tyus. I have also heard great things about Redan, Alexander and JP Moseley but haven't played them. I do not recommend the Kennesaw course. Wills and Dupree are average courses.

I expect a review from the courses you play. Enjoy.

Echoing what has already been said...
If you have the time to get out to them: Hobbs Farm and NGCT (in that order)... definitely the best I've played in that area by a decent margin. Unfortunately, both are a bit of a drive from the city, and the two are pretty far from each other so it may not be possible for you to get to both of them.

Perkerson isn't as good as either of those, but it's still excellent course, and should be pretty easy/quick to get to from almost anywhere around the city. Just make sure you lock your doors and don't leave anything tempting visible in your car. I didn't have any problem, nor have I even heard of one, but... there's no shaking the sketchy vibe that neighborhood gives off.

Wellsbranch has played more around there than I have, and I usually see eye to eye with him. That said, he seems to like Tyus a bit more than I do. Personally, I enjoyed Perkerson more... but we're within disc on that.

Agreed. Etowah is very cool and Tyus is good too.

i would agree, Perkerson is a better course than Tyus. I think i have seperated by roughly two tenths of a disc. ie a mini.

Lol. I'd say Perk's got Tyus is beat by maybe two minis...

Wait... how many minis = disc?
Are we talking who gives a crap, plain Jane, mono-color Innova minis, or cool limited edition Axiom minis?

Martin Dewg's custom turned mini's can't enter into this conversation, because they're nice enough to count as a full disc. They'd throw the whole equation completely out of balance.

I just hope our posts help the OP figure out where to spend his time hukking plastic!

With Atlanta traffic, you can't get across the street in 45 minutes.

OK, an exaggeration, but I'd tilt heavily to the courses closest to where you're staying, if time is limited, which I assume from having only time for 1 round a day. Unless you want to spend that limited time in a car.

But if you stumble across someone who can get you onto Flyboy, ditch whatever duties you're in Atlanta to attend, and go there.
