Ok, I'm sorry I know this isn't the place for real questions, but I have to ask:

Doesn't starting your own company require a generous amount of start up capital? Equipment, materials, advertising, shipping network, property, and probably more things I can't think of. Does he have the money to get that kind of business off the ground and competitive with the dozens of other companies already going? It would be a great legacy-move, but if his goal is financial security, it's a huge risk without some backers

So maybe McBeth goes to Legacy.

He still gets to throw his favorite molds because they're basically exact flight replicas of Innovas discs.
Legacy sales go through the roof. Paul gets a substantial cut, maybe even part of the company. Rico could really use the marketing push and advertising potential. Win/win for the two of them.

This keeps getting kicked around because some people seem to not want to think he would leave Innova for Discraft.

I'm still thinking we might see a line of McBeth discs, but not exactly his own company. I would fully expect to still see Discraft's name on these discs.

This is absolutely foolish.

They for sure know how many they produce in a year (or any given day/week/month), and I'm sure they have a running tally on stock in the warehouse. So how many they sell is a simple math problem.

Now where/how they sell them is more complicated. Sent to wholesalers, individuals/clubs, other disc brands, factory store, etc. etc. etc. They also give some away to their pro team and whatnot, so there may be a little untracked leakage at times.

They may have some on consignment at places so the line gets blurred for how many are "sold" at any given time.

But still, on a yearly basis, there's no way they don't know how many discs they sell to within a very close percentage. If you think otherwise you're delusional.

I still go back to the point that the START of all the rumors was that he was in discussions with Discraft so that still seems to be the likely landing point.

However... the thought that if it were just cash, the amount of money discraft would be throwing at him that Innova wouldn't match would have to be an amount Innova thinks is absurd, and or there is an element of spite in negotiations?
So the thought is some other stake or control in the company or bigger role in merchandising than just discs. Maybe something Innova doesn't want to give up... to anyone?

So, were talks with discraft just a starting point and a big move to partial ownership with legacy a plan all along? Frankly seems plausible and to me the only realistic not-discraft option.

I don't see that, he's way too young to stop playing. More likely imop..he is announcing a part ownership of an existing brand that he is going to help market. And I fully believe that it will be Innova or Discmania USA.

Perhaps Innova will still make them for now under his name, especially if Discmania is completely moving shop to Colorado and not having to rely on Innova anymore. For now Innova is mass producing Mcbeth discs to make tons of profit.

Mcbeth seems to strive to be the best, to be the boss, to leave a legacy; I don't see how a different sponsorship will help this, it would be like starting over, too many unknowns. He knows discs with his name will sell, he just needs to have a way to produce them himself, Innova could be that bridge for now. This would ensure a great future even when he can't compete with the youngsters anymore and this is why he needs to do it sooner than later while his is still at the top.
Starting his own company would be starting over.

I'm pretty sure the Legacy Towel thing was meant as a joke.

I’m just looking forward to seeing more variety as someone who throws mostly Discraft.

The big question is, will all the innova fan boys swallow their pride and try out some Discraft plastic if Paul’s stamp is on it?

For some reason, I could see Paul building something with Legacy before I could see him going to Discraft.

I think he's looking at the long term, he's getting older and knows that he has limited time to be top dog, but I think he wants to be in the game for life, not just jump from sponsor to sponsor.

Just a thought
