Likely call is made from the end result, unless they can see it well enough from the tee that the stake was bent enough to make a difference. If it was evident, and I was on the card, I would vie for OB, since the disc did establish position already once it came to rest. No different had a fox picked it up and moved it to parked.

Fun that a 984 rated player was one of two players in the field to have a Birdy on that hole. .

I think I agree with McBeth...that's the best dg hole I've ever seen. Conrad's birdie was incredible...would have loved to see what Tanner did.

Let΄s hope Paul gets hole 12 today. . his only "problem" in R2.

but Both Paul and Emerson played Northwood "in the double digits" in R2, no one else did . .. if they can repeat that today. . . well then it΄s X5

Fortunate that even with the manipulation of the string, the call didn't change, so ultimately it doesn't matter.
The string is taught at the beginning but over the week it gets loose in spots. Each morning we do a quick check to see if there is anything obvious that has gotten loose. It varies from event to event whether players can restore the string (aka pull it taut) to it's original location or just deal with it wherever it is. For Worlds, we made it explicit the players must leave the green stakes exactly where they are, but can pull the string taut to determine IB/OB.

Yes painted lines don't move, mostly. But the grass gets bent over, it gets faded by the sun, rain, etc. Painted lines are also worse as they are less precise. Much harder to make close calls like that with paint than with a thin string.

Why don't they just play 5 rounds at Northwood Gold? Eureka is garbage compared.

Why was the creek on hole 8 at Eureka not lined?
