Default Mako3 vs. Comet for woods golf

I'm looking for a good mid-range, or even a driver for tight tunnel shots. I've heard the Mako3 and Comet are good for this. I don't know anyone who owns these discs so I don't know which one to get. I was thinking to buy both. I just heard they hold any line you put it on well, and have minimal fade. Maybe I don't need these discs, and I could throw a beat in putter. Any advice would be great.

Both good discs, both fly pretty straight, but the Comet is straighter and powers down better. Take a little off the Mako and it fades out. Might want to look into a Claymore too.

I used to own 5 Mako's, I now have none and instead own 4 Comets.

Everyone should own at least one Comet.

Between those two, of course I'll say the Mako3, as I'll never recommend the Comet

However, IMHO there are some others to consider, as well. On the slower end are the Colt and Nova. At a bit faster level, the MVP Axis is incredibly straight. The MVP Tangent is also straight (stronger arms will need to hyzer flip it). The Prodigy M4, if hyzer flipped for stronger arms, is good, as well.

For faster discs, the River is my go-to for tunnel/woods shots. The TL is also great for me, though it has a bit of a fade finish. The C-Line FD has great glide and might work out very well for you in these situations.

These are the ones I have experience with and recommend. There are others, I'm sure.

A regular Mako is a damn straight disc as well, especially in Star plastic.

Agreed. +1
It is near magic how well it flies and it is a disc anyone, any power, any skill, can throw. From children to MJ or Cam Todd.

Haven't thrown the Comet much but I always bag a Mako3 and like it a lot. It's straight and easy to throw in all plastics but they each have their uses. Champ is more stable and less glidey as you'd expect, Gstar can get flippy with too much torque, and Star is in between. Champ is probably my favorite because it's the most controllable for me with a slight predictable fade at the end. Star wouldn't be far behind and is better in the cold imo.

Having said all that, I just started throwing a soft Envy which is already taking shots away from the Mako. It offers the same dead straight flight at nearly the same distance, plus you can throw tight S-shaped lines with it. A Mako often won't fight out of an anny line in my experience. But it's a laser beam if you're just looking for something to rip on a flat release, and it's longer than the Envy.
