Interesting.... Lame name.

Explorer? What are we, 12?

River Pro was a dud though so this makes sense to take another stab at this slot.

Sounds like they're going to have a blended Burst run early on. From their release:

"Latitude 64 Special Edition Gold X-Blend Burst Explorer
Straight flight path and controlled glide, that's what the Explorer is all about. Designed to be the workhorse for all kinds of accurate fairway drives, this stable and versatile fairway driver has been developed in cooperation with World Champion Ricky Wysocki. 'The Explorer is smooth out of the hand and has a clean stable flight. It goes right where I want it' - Ricky Wysocki.

Speed: 7 Glide: 5 Turn: 0 Fade: 2

The base of the plastic is Gold Line, but we added 20% of a different plastic type which enhances the grip and gives it more elasticity/flex. It's not as soft and gummy as the Frost or Snow Line plastics."

I kind of look at like this: the market is already crazy crowded right now. Why not keep trying to get that mythical Teebird clone? Latitude has a good following, so I'm sure people will at least test out whatever they release. Plus, one would think Ricky at least had some part in designing this disc, since his name is on it.

I'm going to say this Teebird attempt lands more understable than they want. But who knows, it will probably be another 9, 5, -1, 3 disc like all their control drivers.

Cracks me up that this and the DD getaway were announced near each other. The getaway was described as an escape pro which sounds a bit like what the explorer could be.

Where were all the new molds announced?

Anyways, the 7 speed is a mythical slot that is triwd all the time and never gotten right. An escape is a 9 speed, while this is supposed to be a 7, compared to a zion which is a 9, the river pro is a 7, and the spark is a 7. These are all comparisons i have heard for a disc we haven't thrown yet. Speculation is fun, but these are never predictable.
