Opinion time: Disclosure: I really like Ontario Cobras. They are cool discs that do certain things really, really well. However, Cobras don’t do all things well. Cobras do better mixed in a bag with other mids i.e. paired with a Stingray so that when you need that shot that gets over and stays over you have something that will do that and not fade out of the turn. You can also mix in a Shark/Roc that is more HSS in case you have a strong headwind. You cover the shots better that way, but you have three molds.

Comets are more of a “do it all” disc. You can pair a Comet with something, or you can just carry Comets. If mold minimization is important to you, Comet/Cobra is a no-brainer. You carry Comets.

OR you carry Rocs. Because Roc or Comet is the actual for realz “Life's Most Difficult Question” when you are talking mold minimization and mids.

Just to add to the conversation: the newer Innova Mirage is a very interesting understable mid vs. the Cobra or the Comet...

(Side note: I got a couple of Star Cobras from the Proshop a while back, so DX is not all that's out there. Also found a pearly Champion Cobra, and when I called the number the owner said I could keep it. It's awesome, so awesome that I'm a bit scared to throw it and potentially lose it....)

Star Cobras are all the "Classic Cobra" i.e. flippy ones with the www Stingray top, though. At least I believe that was the case.

It may be. My DX Cobras are very understable (one was bought used), and the Star Cobras have a bit more stability. I like them all.

I picked up a Champion Cobra from the Proshop last spring, and it is just what I wanted. Got a Star as well, and found it flipper than my DX.

I see they are no longer available - bummer. Keep it safe!

Comet, the comet can handle low lines but the cobra will never cover a shot that you need that glide on. Or bag em both and whichever disc you reach for the most gets to stay.

Just picked up a 180g ontario dx cobra today. Going to test it compared to my used z comet. Don't have an X to test it against. My comet is a pretty stable flyer still though.

Must have both.

Cobra excels for me on uphill approach shots. Holds a nice anny line also.

Comet just does everything else.
