"Future upgrades to the application include the integration of PDGA ratings for casual rounds..."

Groovy.

I have tried udisc twice now. I have become so accustomed to the DGCR app, I have a hard time adjusting to the udisc platform. I need to give it another shot, I guess.

That's cool. I definitely will still use the scorebook and app here. Mainly because I have 800+ rounds entered and I am just so accustomed to using DGCR.

There are definitely some things U-Disc does better, but it all depends what's important to you.

I will definitely start using it next spring. Just the ability to track personal stats seems worth it.

Default app vs app

I've used both UDisc and DGCR for a while, and here's my thoughts on the two. This isn't meant to be a slight to either app.

Once DGCR allows people to update course layouts via the app, it will be the best app for managing course data and keeping hole positions up to date. UDisc's course management setup is awful in the mathematical sense, in that you have to build a new "layout" for every combination of pin locations. If your course has 2 pins with 2 locations, that's 4 layouts that have to be built. There's no way to determine what the most current layout is. Pin locations are set by GPS coordinates, and since cellphone GPS is not that accurate, hole distances are going to be off as well.

Searching for courses is also much easier with DGCR. UDisc does not have a way to show courses by city, state, country, zip code, who designed it, when it was built or basically any other metric that you can use in DGCR.

DGCR does a great job of building community through the forums here. UDisc has some facebook pages.

DGCR Achievements have really motivated me to play more and to play better. UDisc has nothing like this, or road trip planning, disc store finding, etc.

UDisc is just a tool for people playing disc golf, showing a map and entering in throwing data and giving you statistics about it afterwards.

In nordic and baltic countries Discgolfmetrix has really heavy usage. Its official partner of Finnish disc golf association. They have made really good changes during last year and working as TD has become quite simple task. Competition calendar is easy to access and players can register themselves without hassle. Scorecard is not as feature rich, but throw statistics are there.

I am bit worried how the Udisc is going to handle competition organizing in players and TD's point of view. Udisc is quite simple to use as scorecard even with android wear watch. Lets see what happens.
