So...ready to have your mind blown? There has always been a blunt nose and sharp nosed variation of the Rancho Roc.

3P you should write and publish an encyclopedia of the history of Rocs and Aviars.

Chapter 4: The spacer scandal of 2018

Uncle Three Putt story time: I'm not cool enough to have ever talked to Dave Dunipace. However, I have been awkward enough to hang around in the general area where he was and eavesdrop on his conversation. It's creepy and I'm not proud of it, but there you go. This was around the time of the 9X KC Roc and there was some conversation about why the 9X's were not as stable as the 8X's. He spouted of a whole raft of different specifications which I don't remember, but I know at some point he said "We can make sharp nosed Rocs, we can make blunt nosed Rocs."

I went home and looked, and all I found was a little teeny tiny difference where one wing seemed to attach at the parting line and the other seemed to have a tiny line of plastic under the parting line. If it made any difference in the flight, I couldn't tell. I assumed the blunter one probably started out more OS, but not dramatically so. It wasn't enough of a difference that I cared enough to take it into account when choosing them.

And I've lived in fear for the last 11 years that someday, somebody on this site was going to notice.

Anyway, from what I recall the nose wasn't the only thing they seemed to have the ability to change on the Roc. He mentioned a lot of stuff. Whatever they do or don't do to them, a Roc with the kind of dome I like pretty much flies the way I want a Roc to fly. So the dome is really the main thing I pay attention to. The rest just kinda makes my head hurt.

What funny is that the rocs with the more squared off noses looks like the bottom of the wing sits lower.

Id bet to most mere mortals though the flight is indistinguishable.

This is why I've dreaded the day the somebody noticed. I mean, it's there. You can see it. And here I am going "Eh, don't worry about it." Don't worry about it? I can see it! Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

But seriously.

Well because of the Roc spacer debacle of 2018, I've tossed all of my Rocs in a dumpster and lit them on fire. Just can't trust em now that I can see different things, regardless of how they fly.

Switching to PFN Wolves for my mids.

First Rudy told us 'truth isn't truth'. Now you tell me a Roc isn't a Roc. The way you guys obsess over your Rocs, I predict some folks will be visiting the nervous hospital.

I'm with Streets, just gimme a Buzzz.
