Default Disc in the NY Times Travel section

Found this article while perusing the NY Times Travel Section, part of its '36 Hours in...' series, this one featuring Durham, NC. Nice to see some coverage in a national outlet.

11. PUTTING AROUND

The sport of disc golf, which trades balls and clubs for plastic flying discs (Frisbee is a brand name) thrown at elevated baskets, has been increasing in popularity around town. One beginner-friendly course winds through the woods of Cornwallis Road Park (2830 Wade Road; free). If you already know what jump putts and anhyzers are, try the 22 professional-caliber holes of the challenging course at Valley Springs Park (3805 Valley Springs Road; free). Either way, expect to encounter tranquil nature and friendly locals happy to point you toward the next hole.

Valley Springs is a cool course. Professional-caliber? A bit of a stretch.

To the target audience, the blue tees at Valley Springs probably seem exactly as described. To the DGCR forum reader, probably not. It provides good contrast for comparison and decision-making to the average reader who might use this as somewhat of a guide to Durham.

It's always cool to see the sport getting media coverage in a positive way.
