Default Fall Road Trip

Went up to Flip last spring and had an absolute blast. We didn't get up to Leviathan like so many of the locals suggested. Im in the works of plannig a fall trip back up that way. Will it be worth my time to make the trip from Flip up there to play Leviathan? And are there anymore "must play" courses in the area?

^2nd that emotion.

Leviathan is SOOOOOOO worth the extra half-hour of driving, you have no idea.

Flip is great for camping (contact Bill ahead of time though) and using as a "base" for making a day trip up to Flip, Beauty, Beast, and Goliath.

Really doesn't get much better than that.

Also, haven't gotten there yet, but Branstrom is supposed to be pretty darn good. Whitehall and Shore Acres are probably along the way depending on where you're driving up from. Both are worth stopping at, although not as good as the Mason County courses (Leviathan et al)

Camped at Bills last year. Great guy awesome course all except that damn raccoon, SOB eat our food like he was at the golden corral. From what I hear about that area I can't go wrong with several of the courses. I am from the NKY so I do have a few good courses in the area (Idle, Banklick, Mt. Airy). Would you put some of these courses in the same category?

From what I've seen/heard about Mt. Airy, Leviathan is WAAAY better. Don't know about Banklick.

Idlewild is probably in the same category as Leviathan but better than Beaty/Beast/Goliath.

Go with what Martin D. sez. That dude's played more courses than you and I combined will ever play.

If he says it's one of his favorites, that's pretty high praise.

Flip is to banklick as leviathan is to idlewild without obs

beauty/beast might relate more to a iroquois or Radcliff, Goliath kicks it up a notch. Nice, more open park style courses, mostly true par 3 style golf

That is good advise. They only down side might be time but I'm sure we can make it work on this trip.

Very good Martin D that is something I can relate to. Bank is my home course and I go to idle to have a reality check. Are you talking about iroquois in Louisville? I've played there several times. I like it but I prefer Charlie Vet. I shall take the advise.
