Comparing Climo to McBeth is like comparing Palmer to Woods or Ruth to Aaron to Mcgwire etc. Too many differences through time and differing opinions to really determine the best. It's fun to discuss and all but Climo will always be "The Champ" as far as I'm concerned. In ten years there will be a new superstar rising that everyone will compare to McBeth etc...

I think the best cross-sport comparison is Climo to Bill Russell. Certainly the best player of his era, won a million championships, but also was competing against part-time players when the sport was still in its infancy. I guess McBeth is the Jordan in this analogy.

You're just dating yourself... Not that there is a problem with that. I'm just saying that most new players know who KC is, but never saw him play, so don't have that respect. Climo was the best at holding down 2 full-time jobs. McBeth is the 1st of his kind. He is the best, full-time disc golfer.

But, you're right. If someone like Emerson Keith stays on this tear he's been on, he'll be the next, best, full-time disc golfer.

I never understand analogies between someone that plays an individual sport and someone that plays a team sport. To me, Ken Climo was most like Pete Sampras and Paul McBeth is probably most like Roger Federer.

All 4 of them had an ability to crush their competitor in the most clutch moments, which generally is what separates champions from 2nd place.
