Default DeLaveaga in the rain

Hey guys,

I'm going to be out in Cupertino for work tomorrow, so I figured since I'll be near Santa Cruz I should take a half day off and hit DeLaveaga in the afternoon. The only problem is that from what the weather reports say, it's going to be raining. Not a huge deal, I've played in the rain before, but I was just wondering if slippery teepads are a concern at DeLaveaga. Any Santa Cruz area locals on here want to chime in with any thoughts?

Craig

The teepads are a bit more slippery when wet. However, they are mostly kept mud free so it isn't fall-down-on-your-face slippery. The thing that happens to me a lot is the bottom of my shoes get muddy and then I try for a full power throw and slip. So clean your shows off as best you can.

The other thing I worry about is muddy ravine slopes and puddles. Watch your step if you miss the fairway!

I have some pretty decent trail running type shoes, so hopefully I'll be ok. Oh, I'll be missing the fairway...

Thanks for the advice.

You'll be fine. I grew up there and spent a lot of time playing rain or shine. You'd be kicking yourself for NOT playing it. Just bring layers of clothing and maybe an extra pair of shoes since you come back through the parking lot 4 times. Have fun...lucky!

Yeah, I'm definitely playing. Rain or shine. I think I have a hoody that I can fold up enough to fit it in my bag if I need it and I had already planned on bringing a pair of golf only shoes for the trip. I can't wait to play DeLa...

I just played a round an hour ago with a guy from California, and he said it doesn't rain there anymore.

DeLa was awesome, by the way. Best course I've played so far...

It's a cool place for sure, my wife and I played the first half in the rain when we were there, it got nice and sunny for the last half of the course for us.

Yeah, it rained pretty much the whole time I was there. 3 or 4 holes in it let up for about 5 or 6 holes, but then started dumping again. I didn't care though, it wasn't cold or anything.
