Default Yikun New Overmold Discs, Tomahawk & Meteor Hammer

Yikun recently released 2 new double overmold discs.

The meteor hammer, a straight putter and
The Tomahawk,a neutral midrange.

I don’t know why but they have caught my eye.

Thought I’d start a thread to discuss them.

I’m ordering one of each, they look really nice. The new colors are really cool.

Ended up ordering the Tomahawk and the regular Hammer instead of the Meteor Hammer. Was cheaper and looked more interesting. Could be an interesting comparison to the Scale.

I have struggled to find a straight mid that I've really liked, and am hoping the Tomahawk can be good in that slot. I've been using the Piwakawaka or Anubis depending on the time of year, but I've not committed to either. Also grabbed a Lu to see if it's worth competing with the Emperor/ DDX for my max D BH spot.

My Tomahawk came in today and with limited tosses I am intrigued, but not enamored yet.

The main plastic feels a lot like an XT style plastic that can take a bit of stress but not probably as durable as Star or similar. The overmold is gummy like a G* and very grippy. No compass points, but the overmold plastic does come through two holes in the rim, but you can’t really feel it.

It’s a little deeper and more pointy than expected, but with a flatter top than you often see with this style of disc.

I threw only a few shots with it, and it turns quite easily out of the box. Thrown flat and hard it turned over and never thought of fading. I did like it on the hyzerflip lines I tried though. Flipped up and rode straight with a gradual turn and no fade to speak of.

I have a couple of makeshift holes in my yard and one is a 300 ft shot that is either a RHFH or turnover BH through a pretty tight tree/house tunnel and I hit that and parked my practice basket perfectly on that shot.

No idea if it will have a shot at the bag but it is surely interesting. Going to try an shoot a vid tomorrow.
