I've always thought of Simon as a Pro on auto-drive. He's good enough to play at the top level, but it seems like he really just enjoys playing disc golf. If the results come then so be it, if not he's still going to have a good time. I used to race bicycles with guys like that...super talented athletes who cared more about the fun of racing than the results.

That interview kind of confirms what I've always thought about Simon, and why I like him so much.

I love Simon and I love Simon content, be it his or something that features him. However, that interview sits very wrong with me. I find it borderline disrespectful towards the accomplishments of those that have a more competitive attitude.

Hated that, too. Like playing a 45rpm record without the adapter.

I agree that he talks like he's just having fun, but then you listen to him talk about watching the replay and thinking about strategy--the edge is in there. I don't think he will ever lose his fun nature, but I could see him becoming more focused and strategic on course.

Of course he's been doing this a long time. He seems to enjoy himself and spoke about ideas he has for expanding his brand/social media presence.

Not every culture is obsessed with being number one. Given that Simon isn't from the US, which seems like one of the most competitively driven countries, I'd cut him a break.

Do the Huk Lab logo adapters not work with changers?

Have you considered that he's more competitive against himself, than against others?

I feel like your comment is borderline disrespectful towards people who would rather be competitive with themselves.
