I use the 10-12 disc innova bag for when I travel and it holds up very well cefire. It has space for water, scorecard, keys, wallet and if you don't pack it with too many discs, a light jacket. I will bring it next time we play and you can either carry it around for a round or just look at it. Super cheap and pretty comfortable.

The Innova Discover or the new backpack Cadet are the best beginner backpacks that are not the drawstring or Discraft Ace Race/UPD bag. As is the Infinate Disc Sling for some players that would not use the other strap ever, even if the only side they used broke, they would buy a whole new bag. Flaw is most of these bags have only one bottle holder, can get modified though and add a soft stroller bottle holder to them.

Then in Traditional small/beginner the Innova standard sold in most places or the Rec bag from DGU are good, same as the small Weekend from Discraft is very popular. The so is the Nutsack/knock off versions rather popular for super minimal players. I avoided any bags that used the mesh bottle holder except the Nutsack/knockoff style as those are somehow popular with that part factored in.

Last in small clip on backpack strap bags, the Discraft Tournament is very Popular in normal years, sold out/possibly OOP. Then the MVP Breaker got an update, not sure if the new bags can take Quad straps, then the Fade Gear Cronch Box Medium that is like the Discraft Tournament is available in normal years for players to use. Also DGA still makes the Best Straps on the market made specifically for disc golf, more and more companies stopped making the straps that went down in quality for the clip on backpack strap bags. Forgot Disc Store makes a Discraft Tournament single strap/clip on backpack strap bag called the Disc Store Disc Golf Lightweight Tournament.

More and more the smaller Style 15-20 discs in a clip on backpack strap type bag is going oop and it is easier to find the big 20+ disc capacity clip on backpack strap bags such as Infinite's model. Most of the older players 40+ used to the older style or those with bad backs that can't use a cart on local/nearby courses they play lots that want to use the clip on backpack strap bags want a 20+ style bag. The small 5-10 and 10-15 disc Bags are still made by 90% of the companies as they are popular for super minimal rounds or for air travel use as well as beginner players.

I'm too lazy to look, but if Voodoo still sells their $10 straps you should snag a couple. They are tremendous for the price. A touch bulky, but very comfortable. I found buying 2 offset the $10 shipping cost. It did take 2 weeks for them to arrive.

Curious how much “stuff” one needs to carry for a round of disc golf?

Obviously whatever discs you need. Water bottle or 2. Snacks? How long will you be in the course that you need to carry snacks? I guess tournament play can really be slow ?

i carry about 10 discs roughly sometimes 12 if i need to bring water discs

water bottle is a must and small pocket to hold my keys

golden retriever would be nice to hold

aint ever playing another tourney again or any leagues

the problem im running into is all the backpack bags are too big but better on the body and the side bags are all or nothing on each side of the body

the strap on might be the best option as its the best of both worlds

The Closest thing for this that has a single bottle holder is the Innova Discover backpack. It only holds a max of 15-17 discs and has all the points including a small side pocket to fit the keys/wallet as well as a retrieval device in the side pocket opposite the bottle side.
