Default Omega Big Bead vs P1x

So I was in my local disc retailer today. I was curious about the difference between an Omega big bead and the big bead Aviar mold. So I was holding those up side by side and quickly realized that the Omega big bead is really an Aviar P&A with a bead. It's shallower and has a less beefy wing than the big bead Aviar. Then I happened to pick up a Discmania P1x and held it up side by side with the Omega big bead, and I'm pretty sure they're the same mold. They were both XT plastic (Millennium ET and Discmania X-line which are the same thing). Can anyone out there confirm whether these are the same? They both seem to have the Aviar P&A top with a convex beaded bottom mold piece and to my eyes they are identical.

Omega BB is definitely the P&A mold + a big bead. I've never thrown a P1x, but don't they have a smaller bead?

That very well could be, but I was looking for differences in the lower wing profile pretty carefully since they both definitely looked like the P&A top, and I couldn't find any difference. If they are different mold pieces, they are extremely similar mold pieces. And honestly, they both looked convex (vtek) on the bottom to me. If memory serves, the BB Aviar mold is not convex on the bottom, but the ET Omega I was looking at certainly looked convex on the bottom. Now I wish I'd taken a pic or just bought both of them.

From what I understand, only the FR Omega SS BBs have the BB lower wing. All others are PnA lower wings with big beads. I personally only have FR BBs and APs, but they follow my logic above. Haven't seen a non-FR SS BB to verify they're using the PnA lower wing with a big bead attached though.

The FR AP BBs are freaking amazing throwers though, and I'm in no way a fan of the Aviar molds.

As previously stated the tops are the same. Discmania P1 or P&A aviar top. The omega has the big bead aviar bottom piece and the P1X has the convex lower wing with a medium bead. The lower wing of the P1X is close if not the same as the whale.

Never seen an Omega BB with the BB Aviar wing. They should all have the P&A wing (convex). That's kind of the whole point of the mold. Otherwise it would just be a BB Aviar. Having said that, it's Innova, so I wouldn't be too surprised if they existed.

Like I said, the FRs are the only ones with the BB lower wing.

This post is from when they were first released.

Oh my, I really like these new big bead Omegas

The nose is the Putt and Approach mold. So it is exactly like the Omega nose, but a big bead in place of the small. This is different from the proto SS big beads, which had the Aviar-x nose. This makes it a truly unique putter shape. The SS BB is crazy soft, but really nice and grippy. The AP BB is the same AP plastic as the other new APs but feels a bit better(kinda like star/pro).

The SS BB is straight with less glide-out than a regular SS. It's easy to drive with out of the box. The AP BB CRUSHES! Longest putter I have used to date. Holds a lot of lines, long or short

Disc Nation should have these in tomorrow. And we love omegas, so I'm pushing to do something special

Can you post a picture? Are you sure you're not referring to the test runs that were sold on the Innova factory store? I believe that is the "proto" run that ZJ is talking about.

All the talk of wings and tops and such in this thread has me confused.

The big bead Aviar mold is not the Aviar mold in use for the KC Pro/JK Pro/Aviar Driver today. That mold is the Aviar X mold. The difference between the molds basically is that the big bead Aviar mold produces a disc that looks/feels like an Aviar P & A with a big bead. The Aviar X mold has a blunt nose along with the big bead. The big bead Aviar mold was the mold in use in the 90's; it was replaced by the Aviar X around 2000-2001.

So if I'm following this correctly, the first run big bead Omega used the Aviar X mold and since then has been using the big bead Aviar mold? Is that the deal?
