Default Mach III

https://discgolf.com/wp-content/uplo...ch3-patent.jpg

So in the post above I just found out that Ed Hendrick got the patent for the Mach III on the day I was born. The Mach III was approved by PDGA in March 17 1987 but might not have been made commercially Available until the patent was approved. This means that of 12-2018 the Mach III idea turned 30 years old.

I still think the Mach II was a more revolutionary idea, adding a second set of chains to a basket that made it so baskets could stop modern disc golf discs better then the single chain designed for catch discs. https://discgolf.com/wp-content/uplo...ch2-patent.jpg

Actually the original Mach II sucks the most If anyone has had the chance to use one but that basket was made for a slower disc era.

I have seen that Disc golf clip as well as an earlier clip in Tonight show with the Wham-O Superball.

I have played a course he designed in 1980's. It still used the old Mach II not a great basket for modern Discs.

The day I miss a basket because of anything more than my own fault will be the day that I can justify badmouthing a basket. Til then, I like Mach III's just fine. The only spitouts I get when there isn't any wind are almost always a result of me throwing to the weak side of the basket. That's not the basket's fault.
I like the sound on Mach III as well.

The newer Mach III, taller bottom Cage seems to help the disc stay in better. Sometimes with the older size the disc would bounce out thanks to the inner set of chains if putting really hard but now with newer height on the cage the basket is better. I like the basket sound on Mach III too but the Mach V is not bad ether, sounds the way a modern Mach II sounds but fuller.

Only basket I do not like that I have used is a Mach X, I use the pole and pick the edge to aim at as that does not move in wind like the chains do and with a Mach X the pole is hard to see. One hole at a course I have played was fixed with a Mach X top, a tree messed up the old top and I have a harder time putting on those.
