How do you define your “max distance”?

This section is filled with folks looking for more distance. I am too of course.

I’m wondering if everyone defines max the same way? Do you throw in a flat field like a softball or soccer field? Very little to no wind?

Of course you can’t always have ideal conditions for practice, but I’m wondering what folks are basing their max distance statements on?

If you throw 10 discs for max, how close would the average be to the max?

I’m still trying to reach my max. But, I count the one throw that went further than the average.

But in reality, it the the median throw out of ten where I really try to mash on it.

I say that I can throw 280-300' which is, assuming I hit my lines, about how far down a fairway I usually find myself if things go well. But every once in a blue moon I surprise myself and wind up pin high on a 320' hole and my longest recorded drive in a wide open field is 335'

Good question! Because wind and knowing how to use it to your advantage can greatly exaggerate your self perceived max d potential, I measure max d on slow or no wind days. If on a slight hill, I'll throw up and down and avg out the throws. Over the years I've learned max d lines are different from golf lines. I can throw a light driver on a high hyzer, watch it flip over and go way further than my golf lines, but I wouldn't use that to describe my typical max d either.

I figure my distance based off of actual course throws. The new thing with everyone bagging range finders really helps as most tee signs seem to be off one way or another.

I don’t really have or know a max distance number. I consider myself generally a 300’ thrower but there are a fair number of holes at 350’ that I can frequently reach. I have also had a few 30’ putts on some 400+’ holes so realistically I guess I can occasionally push 370’.

I haven’t measured anything on an open field but I still generally just say I throw 300-350’ max.

Don't care. My max distance is getting as far down the fairway as I can. Mine is big enough to not need measuring, nor comparison to validate.

Flat throwing area, no wind, count how far the disc goes before stopping (including skips) and no roller distances allowed. I practice on a deep grassy field with lava rock and sagebrush mixed and rarely get any noticeable skips. That's where I measure my max distance shots.
