Default Can't Get my Hyzer to Flip

So I've been trying to add a hyzer-flip to my arsenal. I've been throwing an avenger ss, a beat pro orc, and very understable surge. I can get the avenger ss to do the hyzer-flip every now and then, but from everything I've read this kind of shot is good for narrow, low ceiling areas.

My Hyzer is pretty long, about 300-330, but my hyzer-flip (when I do it right) only goes about 315-350. Is this normal, do I need more practice, or am I actually not hyzer-flipping but rather throwing a high flex shot. Help please.

By the way I throw a flex-shot most of the time going from 325-380, 400+ on a good day. I have lots of snap, but not a lot of muscle. Short take off, maybe 3 or 4 short steps.

Work on technique. Watch the "More Snap 2009" videos by citysmasher1 and practice. And Practice. And practice more. Study good form and technique like you're obsessed with it. Only then will you truly have snap and will be able to throw a good hyzer-flip.

You don't need muscle to throw far--signed Marc and Ken Jarvis.

I find that actually comming into the hit a little slow; ALMOST to the point of a brief hesitation and bursting from your throwing arms right peck with all your power seems to get the disc to hyzer-flip better, but maybe thats just me.

For what its worth though, it adds distance for lower shots in the turning but I wouldnt look for it to give you much more than a 10-15% increase in distance.

How far do you straight throws go? A Hyzer flip is essentially throwing a straight, flat shot line, but holding the disc on a hyzer (wing down) angle. If you throw it fast enough the disc will almost immediately flip to flat in your hand and start to turn right a touch, as it starts to slow the fade will pull it back to flat and then eventually to fade left. Height really determines how straight the shot is.

I use only an X step for my hyzer flips, and I just try to keep it really flat about about head high.

Thanks for the advice, sometimes I just want things to happen right away and start forcing things but if I'm on the right track I can live with practice. By the way I throw about 300 straight.

Next question should I try practicing this with like a putter and mid or stick to the drivers?

Mids will let you see the line a little better. I like to hyzer flip meteors and elements. A Buzzz would work as well.

The idea is that you're overpowering the discs the same way you would for a turnover drive, but you're starting it on such a steep hyzer that it has to travel farther in order to turn over and will slow down in time to come back.

Try flipping something slower and understable like the Putt'r, Stingray, Comet, Meteor, Leopard, Stratus. I'd stay away from faster discs as they are much harder to flip even when the are understable because you need to have more power/better form or put some OAT on them.
