This might sound crazy but....Pro-D or Rubber Blend plastic Drones.

Yes I said Drone lol.

The Pro-Ds I used to throw and the Rubber Blends I just recently bought aren't nearly as overstable as all of the premium plastic ones I have thrown over the past decade. Not only do they start out less so, they beat in quicker gaining some turn and delaying the fade.

BUZZZ:

1.9cm height
1.3cm rim depth
1.2cm rim thickness

DRONE:

2.0cm height
1.3 rim depth (feels deeper though I swear)
1.5cm rim thickness

Buzzz #1

Drone #1 (this looks like a premium side profile, the base plastic is definitely less sharp on the outer edge)

Buzzz#2

Drone #2

You might want to check out a DGA rift. I prefer it’s feel to the buzzz but wouldn’t surprise me to learn it’s the exact same mold just different logo on it

Hand feel is such a funny thing. Depending on how you grip a disc, subtle mold differences can feel significant and vice versa.

For example, I threw Wraiths for a bit and bagged a PDx as an OS bookend. Even though the two molds look extremely different, the way I gripped the disc made them feel very similar in the hand due to the similar rim width/depth combo. Then I altered my thumb placement slightly, and all of a sudden the PDx felt gross in my hand and nothing like a Wraith. Why? Because by moving my thumb, I now was bothered by the vastly different shoulders of a Wraith and PDx. On the other hand, some discs that look pretty similar (such as a Crown and Judge) feel very different to me.

Everyone's hands are different and everyone's grip is different. Some people are bothered by depth, others by nose shape, etc. Hopefully the OP has a local shop that he can go to to feel some alternative midrange options.

I might suggest more of a FLX buzzz. I have big hands and I spent a lot of time trying to find wider-rimmed discs that would fly like a mid but had a rim like a fairway. What I found was that with things like Z plastic, the rim FEELS odd, because I'm not gripping it with much of my finger...but once I went to a flex plastic (TI FLX and Z FLX), it was gummier and felt better in my hand even without holding onto too much of it.

I've thought about going up 1 speed to something like a Zombee...but I'm already powering down a Buzzz on most holes at our local, so that has always seemed like a bad idea.

Inspired by this thread I picked up that found EMac Truth again. It does seem to have just a touuuch more chunk to the rim so from that perspective it might work for you. But on the flip side, it’s much more stable than a Buzzz so if you want a Buzzz flight you’ll have to play with plastic types and weights.

Mako3 is a good suggestion. Definitely feels way chunkier, deeper in the hand. I found it liked a bit of a higher line than the buzz but they have both been go to straight mid ranges for me.
