The wasp is a fantastic disc, and now I’m curious to see how many innova fanboys are going to drop their roc3’s.

Wasp is one of those discs in Discraft's lineup that is begging and needing to be made more popular. I threw one way back in the day and it was a solid disc. I definitely see it taking the role of the Roc if Mcbeth chooses to throw it.

I throw a Nebula in its place. But, that is OOP. Maybe when I run out, I will McWasp up.

I had this sweet TI Wasp (I think it was the first run of them from 2012 GBO). It was soooooooooooo good. It's gone now, but all this talk has resurfaced some of those emotions when I first lost it. The Wasp is legit AF.

I just don't see him in any capacity...throwing Discraft, "Trilogy", etc. There's not enough money in disc golf to give anyone the money being speculated, if there was, other worth while pros would be getting similar large sized deals (in the past) and wouldn't have to peddle plastic to make ends meet...imop.

We'll see.....we'll see.....

I know you have since conceded; I haven't been on dgcr in a while. Two things to ponder -- 1) Discraft's motto: #1 in disc sports. True because the Discraft UltraStar is being used by Ultimate players almost universally. So counting, freestyle, KanKan, disc golf, ultimate, etc., they probably do have the money. Maybe they even have the R&D to show the deal as a good investment in their bottom line. Why not? Big companies like Nike, UnderArmour, etc do that kind of research before sponsoring athletes.

I have no dog, and am only speculating myself. However, the press statement from both Paul and Innova said they were "parting ways" not that he would "no longer be a sponsored player. Much stronger statement.

I am puzzled by all the "speculation" about pros switching sponsors…..it will not affect me, nor likely anyone else, at all...it certainly will not cause me to switch discs...will YOU no longer throw Innova if McBeth is with Discraft?….unlikely....

I throw what I throw based on the disc and how it works for me, I have Innova, Westside, DD and Discraft in my bag right now, not likely to change anything based on what a pro does or doesn't throw. Paul can sign all the Aviars he wants, I don't like them and won't use them. Sticking with my Discraft Challenger and Fuzion Judge.

Or maybe I just don't get it...maybe who sponsors a pro is important, to the pro and the sponsoring company, but to the average schmuck hucking frisbees, probably means nothing at all....and I am definitely your average schmuck.

NOW, with all that having been said....I do understand that having a pro's name attached to your brand will probably help that brand sell better. My point is simply: Who really cares?

Someone please explain it to me, slowly, so I can figure out why anybody but Paul should be concerned about what company sponsors Paul.

Slowly? Ok...

[slow talk]Why does anyone do anything? Because they can.[/slow talk]

Personally, I find the speculation on here mildly interesting and funny.

My $0.02

#1 - Paul looks like a pro ball golfer more than he looks like 99% of pro disc golfer. Whether clothing or attitude. Like when a person in military garb walks into the diner it’s human to want to observe very closely everything else that makes that person different and the same

#2 - Because Climo wasn’t filmed as much and looked like the majority of other pro disc golfers, Paul is the closest thing to Tiger Woods in his filmed recent dominance and humans are obsessed with outliers of both the winning and losing variety (again observing closely to see how similar and how different than me)

#3 - Loyalty is a human trait found in the noblest of traditions and the vilest of criminal activities. As a human obsession, we are fascinated with the drama of someone who can actually command the sums of money for their loyalty that Paul can. When such creature can change loyalties even with such high stakes, we are fascinated with that kind of freedom. This theme is why the film The Godfather is a perennial favorite film...loyalty

Because Paul is such an outlier we cannot help our obsession and self comparison. Some are motivated to buy discs because of it, but everyone by human nature must take notice in some way

TLDR; Paul is an outlier and we can’t help it
