Setup with your left knee hanging directly under the hip(feel the deadweight/gravity of your leg pulling the hip taut with loose hip muscles) and right next to the right knee so your feet would be together if you straighten the knee. So just stand feet together and then pick up your left foot and bend the knee and then rest on your tippy toes with the weight pulling your ankle into plantar flexion almost like dragging the toes forward. Your left knee is angled out away from the right knee and left hip so you are tightening your hip muscles and tipping yourself over and not balanced upright stacked and relaxed.

Hold the torso/shoulder arm back when you land with a dramatic exaggerated pause, then the arm should go along with the torso/shoulders when you start extending the front leg. Your arm is swinging without the shoulders and way before you really land and brace upright, so your arm is swinging as your center of gravity is still dropping and there's no catapult.

I was trying to set up like I would for a standstill throw (may not even be close to correct for that).

I can clearly see in your GIF exactly what you are describing. Can't believe I didn't see that.

Working on the swing

I'm not feeling it and can't see what is supposed to happen in the gif.

Lol, your upstairs is leading your downstairs. Keep your eyes on your hand and don't try to swing. Extend the front leg and that should move everything else along with it.

So close to finding a new hobby.

I might just try to get really good at NHL 94 on the Genesis or something.

Not a bad choice, pretty sure you can control the goalie in that one...

Hah, reminds me Goose when he thinks about truck driving school in Top Gun, : https://youtu.be/Wp6fiXarP5U

Just try to get your legs or core to propel your arm. Pretend you have to throw your arm and see what happens.

Do some Two-Arm and One-Arm Olympic Hammer Throws. You have to stop rotating and brace up to transfer/release your momentum ground up through the body out to the arm/disc/hammer/stick.
