Default Mavsfan's Lost 1 Bought 4 bag

I have played about a round a year for the last 10 years but had not added new plastic since the late-90s.

I had a set of discs that worked for me until Labor Day.

2 Aviar P&A's; Omega AP
Shark
Heavy/Light X-Clones; 143 Viper; 149 EXP1

170 Class Frisbee set: Turnover (blue) Super-turn (purple) S-Turn (orange) mid-range (yellow) - primarily water/tree/asphault hazard chuckers.

1st round, 1st tee on new course (lot of water) and just chunked the heavy X-Clone straight left in the drink. Hey dummy they don't make those anymore! And subsequently baptized the EXP.

So I had to buy new discs:

Replacing the X-Clone:
173/147 Pro-D Avenger SS
175/148 JLS
169 Banshee

Replacing the EXP1:
175 DX Boss
169 R-Pro Wahoo (new "home" course is about half water)
175 X/150 Pro-D-Cyclone (plastics are both different than my 90s models)

The remaining vintage collection

167 Omega AP
174 Aviar P&A (Old really firm plastic)
170 Aviar P&A

180 Shark - 1995 WB DG Weekend

150 X-Clone (mate is MIA)
143 Viper - 1994 WB DG Weekeend

Is this mess salvageable?

The Frisbee set has since made it's way into my 8 yr old's "bag"

Update:
Found a couple of classic X-Clones and they have joined the crowd. In the same deal from the Marketplace I picked up 3 Soft Banger GT's, a heavy/light pair of Axiom Craves, and StarLite Tern. To balance out the Tern I picked up a Z-Nuke SS, drowned it, replaced it with a Ti Version, and retired the Boss.

Putters:
2x Soft Banger GT's
Omega AP

Mids
180 Shark (Turning this into my rolling special)
176 DX Shark (gonna see how this does jumping water puddles where the 180 excelled)
Heavy/Light Axiom Crave (Automatic on short approaches - love the disc but very specific in use)

Fairway Drivers
176/167/150 X-Clones
175 X/150 Pro-D-Cyclone
175/148 JLS
143 Viper (Anhyzer specialist w/wind)
169 Banshee

Distance
169 Wahoo-R Pro Floater
173/147 Pro-D Avenger SS
139 StarLite Tern
173 Ti Nuke SS
175 BS Champion Beast

Played Tournament this weekend resulting in a Buzzz/Buzzz SS.
Distances are from field tests on a soccer field. I actually feel like I can throw further if the hole calls for it, and I know I have thrown the Nuke SS further on the course than on the field.

Mids
Z Buzzz (new from tourney)
Z Buzzz SS (new from tourney)
Heavy/Light Axiom Crave (252/264)

Fairway Drivers
176/167/150 X-Clones (282)/(270)/(270)
175 X/150 Pro-D-Cyclone (246)/(309)
175/148 JLS (279)/(297)

169 Banshee (280)

Distance
169 Wahoo-R Pro Floater (244-264)
173/147 Pro-D Avenger SS (254-306)/(294)
139 StarLite Tern (266-289)
173 Ti Nuke SS (228-261)
175 BS Champion Beast (255)

Putters:
2x Soft Banger GT's
Omega AP

Buzzz (SS) are in; Sharks and Viper out.

not sure if you need the tern and nuke ss and wahoo

and you should be able to throw farther than in a field than the course.

How did you calculate course distances in feet?

Field is marked at 90 yards with a temporary goal - 270'
Permanent goals are 110 - 330'
Midfield - 45 - 135'/ 65 yards 195 from "Riverside"
Goal boxes are 18 yards (54' short of 270/330) 216/276
Small Box is 6 yards (18' short) 252/312

I also marked off distances L/R using the same system IF
the target was the opposite goal post from the side I was throwing. IE LHBH would throw from right side of goal and target would be the L goal post of opposite goal. I did not count fade unless I missed the entire goal mouth which gave me a 21' window R before I started counting.
For each throw I came up with Distance - L/R number and tracked it on graph. My best throw was the Cyclone. The Avenger went further into the wind, but it turned over and ended up > 90' L

If you meant actual course estimates... our course is less than a year old and the distances are well marked on the tee-boxes. I don't take the time to actually track distances on the course but I have thrown the Nuke SS within 50' on a 319' par 3 so that is my basis for saying that a couple of my discs are better course performers than field testers.

I might be part of that equation in that there might be 350' on the soccer field before you hit the trees. As opposed to a couple of holes locally which are really open and I have stretched way out. I threw the Super Lite Tern over 300' Saturday but it was close to 200' left (overthrowing an Ultralite Disc) and behind a tree that has no bearing on the hole in normal play. Of course in a Tournament I had to waste a stroke to get out from behind it...

Just a beautiful day today to field test, but I just got out of the chiropractors office. He asked about the most strenuous thing I do to my back - I showed him the X-Step Backhand Throw and he specifically said NO THROWING TODAY.

The biggest thing about the Wahoo is that it floats and I know that at the end of the throw it will turn right REAL HARD, so I am just more confident in it right now...

Would you have any concern throwing a Super lite disc (Tern) into a head wind? That is why I went to the Nuke SS (similar flight characeristics) as a heavier disc.

Update to Bag:

Added an OS D-Driver slot and filled it with Heavy/Light offerings, Wahoo has seasoned into an under-stable to stable (rather than being quite so beefy) and trimmed down some of the fairway drivers:

Forehand DD:
170 g Blizz-Boss (325') Stable to US
159 g Z-Flick (255') OS

In the bag auditioning for a DD slot:
174 g N-Tesla
175 g P- Inertia

Fairway Drivers
176 g Z-Cyclone (235') / 175 g X (246') /150 g Pro-D /(309')
150 g N-Crave (264') 176 g N-Crave (252')

In the bag auditioning for an FD slot:
173 g N-Volt
170 g ESP Stalker

I ended up with a theory about course vs field testing: I believe throwing from a tee-box makes a ton of difference in my throwing for distance. My soccer field throws were very uneven as I approached the playing surface from a slight slope... throwing off of cement tee boxes makes for a significantly better outcome.

Ultimately you were correct. Only the Wahoo stayed and I am now auditioning a Crank vs a Katana with the Wahoo simply being there for the water shots. I can throw it really well, but the plastic simply wears so quickly as to become under-stable to the point of loss - I am on my 4th in 6 months, so this one stays in the bag unless I need a heavier driver than my Ape over the water... If it wears significantly just sitting in the bag as discs around it are pulled out I may lose this one

I lost my first Ape and now have actually replaced it with two: Blizzard 138-g that floats but was getting a bit worn due to overuse in with the wind conditions. I just added a 150-g Blizzard that will take over much of the non-water based situations with the wind. I threw this one 402' LHFH yesterday.

Where I stand now:

DD:
LHFH - Nuke OS, Ape x2, Nuke (FLX),
LHBH - Nuke (esp), Crank, Wahoo, Katana

FD:
LHFH: Predator, Flick
LHBH: Cyclone (Z, Pro-D, esp), Dragon

Mids: Buzzz (Ti), Buzz SS

Putt: Wedge, Zone, Hydra, Envy, Soft Envy, Cryztal Banger GT, 150-Omega SS

Also in the Bag: Q-Quasar; C-Line PD2 Chaos
