Default Starting a putting league

Hi,

Our local club is looking to start a putting league late fall after daylight savings. Does anyone have any experience running a putting league or has participated in a putting league? What format was used? What were the rules? Scoring? Putting distances? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

One basket - teams of 2 randomly decided before each game. $1 per player per game. Each player gets 2 putts at the basket. 3 points for both makes, 1 point for 1 make. 0 points for 0 makes. Play to 21. Winners take all. There were 3-4 different putting locations that were chosen by whichever team scored the most points on the previous round.

The above system I've found works well for anything in the dozen player range or less. You only need one basket so that opens up more opportunities for venues. It's very simple, and makes for fun competition where it's easy to come and go because teams are determined before each game.

I've some some other pretty elaborate systems at putting leagues that involve round robin play along with a knock-out phase and multiple 'pits' of a pair of baskets. More like horse-shoes type thing. These are good and all but it is not a good system for accommodating players that need to leave or late arriving players. However it might work better for larger groups. It's also more difficult to admin these types of leagues but I'm also following this thread to see if anyone has figured this out.
