Default OMG OMG OMG NOVICE!!!!!!1

After several years of complaining that DFW tournaments don't offer Novice, I'm finally playing in a Novice division this weekend. And I only have to drive an hour and twenty minutes each way!!! So awesome!!!!!!1

...and there was much rejoicing from the sub 830 rated players....and trophies.

I really think that the secret to deterring bagging in the Rec division is to offer more Novice...I've never played in a Novice division where somebody came in and put up advanced rated rounds. Baggers have too much pride I suppose to sign up for Novice.

One might actually hypothesize that "novice" may be the only truly "bagger free" division. I mean, even "open" has baggers, right?

I hope the Novice divisions is well-attended, so your TDs will offer you more of it in the future.

Well, now there is a FWM division too, and as bunch of ladies moved up to FA1. Decisions, decisions.

I'd like to add that I think anyone playing in their first tournament should be required to play intermediate, like it or not. I'm a rec dude, and I played in a tourney in January where the winner of the rec division scored high enough that he would have still won the intermediate division if he played that.

If you want to see MA4 continued to be offered, you may want to keep with your plan of playing in that division (and recruit a few others if you can).
