Default Ridiculous Photog @ GBO

Lying down 30-40ft in directly in front of the player off the tee, several photogs directly in front of players, etc, etc. Totally unacceptable, un-professional, etc, etc.

Buy a frickin 2.8f, 200m zoom lens would ya?

That's the first time you have seen her? She does that at pretty much every event...

That's Alyssa Van Lanen. https://www.instagram.com/alyssavanlanenimages/

She's been at several events. Like Brutus said, she's done that before, and so have other photographers. To be honest, I wouldn't even be able to throw if someone was laying down in front of me off the tee like that. I don't know how the pros get used to all the cameras.

They're pros playing in a pro event. They need to expect and accept that type of coverage...

Seriously, that has to be a pain in the azz.

Pro's usually don't throw worm burners...I wouldn't be able to handle it because I'd be afraid of gripping it straight into someone. When dogs wander in front of me like that I have to get the owner to clear them, no way I want to risk it no matter how low the possibility is. But if Simon/Eagle shank it at you at 70+MPH...that's hospital at best.

If it's in their head they should 100% ask for them to move, but if they are focused on their line then I guess it doesn't matter.

I highly doubt it affects the players throw. I am not looking 40 feet in front of me when I throw, I am focused on my selected plant object to keep the head still through the hit.

The moving spectators in your peripheral vision and their phones, etc would be a much larger source of distraction.

I don't see what the problem is. This kind of sounds like a distraction of your own making. Why would you ever devote any of your attention or focus to a man sized spot ten or twenty feet off the tee on the ground?

Whenever someone is in my line of fire I focus all of my attention on not throwing at them and of course throw one straight at them.

First time seeing her lying directly in front of a player at those close of a range. Just not needed at all. Spend some money to buy or rent a better (zoom) lens. Just crazy to see that in the final round of a big tournament.

Most pros love her work from what I see, and if they really wanted to they could just tell her to move if it bothered them. Kinda like the whole getting mad at someone standing still behind the basket while you’re putting. If you miss and didn’t ask them to move it’s your fault not theirs. They’re professionals, trust me if it bothered them they’d let it be known.
