Default Rancho Roc vs. Drone

Season's greetings, DGCR. I was hoping to get some insight about the Rancho Roc and how it compares to a Drone. The main reason being that although I love my Drone, it doesn't feel comfortable for forehand shots as the rim is super beefy. I am hell bent on learning a decent forehand next year and I thought about switching out the Drone.

How do the Rancho and Drone compare in terms of stability/flight?

I already throw the Roc3 as my main mid and I think it would be nice to have that consistent feel in my dainty little hands.

Yep. Even the beefiest of USDGC Ranchos won't hold a flame to a Drone in the beef department. The beefiest Ranchos that I've thrown are Star Ranchos with high PLH. Even these though had a manuverable HSS but a jackknife LSF

A brand new max weight high PLH Champ Rancho will still not compare to a 3 year old 160s Drone that looks like death. Sorry Nate!

(I've bagged the Drone since its release EDIT: 2/28/05)

The buzzz os is the mid you are seeking. Think zone but faster and lower-profile

Thanks, guys! Looks like the Drone will stay in the bag. Although I did get a Christmas stamp Rancho Roc so I wanted to throw it around to see how it flies.

I have not tried a Buzzz OS but might give it a go some time. I took my Z Buzzz out of the bag in favor of the Roc3 and I kind of like it a lot more. I do love my Zone, though... So many discs, so little time!

Other good forehand mids include Q Sentinel MF, Champion Gator, and SP Aftershock, but I firmly advocate the Z Buzzz OS

yup, probably a buzzz os for forehand grip comfort.

That said, except for wind the Roc3 can handle forehand very well. If you honestly are trying to learn a forehand stay away from super beefy discs or they will be all you can throw.

Nice! Yea a lot of people like the Gator so maybe I'll have to get one to try. I do love Z plastic, though... those Buzzz OS's look sexy.

Well I am trying to forehand all my discs so not just torquing an OS disc. I have been mainly throwing my putters and Comet lately.
