i learned how to play disc golf with ultrastars as an ultimate player, now im a disc golfer and only use ultrastars on the pitch. dont let the lid fool you, good ultimate players can crank these things over 300 feet forehand and backhand.

Sounds cool. It's definitely got its place in the disc world. There are two guys here, locally, who only throw ultimate type discs. I've played a few rounds with them and whenever I offer up a sleek driver or a roc, they happily decline and refuse to throw anything else. I almost pity them. JK.

On Sept. 6 I played in the Kenwood Klassic, which was the first ever Super Class event. The PDGA records show it as XC tier, but I am told that will get changed! I saw Ultra Stars and Zephyrs go over 300 feet. I play in the geezer divisions, and Louie's Zephyr rollers were amazing. The Zephyr was probably the single most used disc in the tournament, but open division winner Timmy Gill primarily used a Discraft Ultrastar and maybe a Prostar. Also played were Te Moko's, several different 100 molds, and some 80 molds.
As far as size, the Zephyr or Te Moko is the smallest approved disc. The Whittler is too small. The most available approved discs as a class are ultimate discs.
I went, I played, I had fun, and I have been playing with my Zephyr more all the time. For a quick round at a "pitch and putt" course it has become a favorite weapon!
