PERFECT......now putting would not longer be so simple.

By way of historical relevance....the old, old Mach, single chain baskets work pretty well with old Wham-O 170 gm Masters Frisbees.

And those Frisbees fit perfectly in the basket.
I'll give you the secret for putting with a lid...

....turn it upside down.

You mentioned gimmicks—I see smaller baskets as a gimmick no different that excessive towers.

The solution is better course design and that takes time. Possibly letting go of some of the less challenging courses that are still used due to tradition but require imaginary OB lines to make them challenging.

Still, the scoring separation seems pretty good and the fluctuations in the top groups in most tournaments. As long as that remains true then the sport is healthy.

It would be interesting to evaluate a tournament based on finishing position in each round as opposed to throws. It would make the final round as significant as the first round, but it would not reward excellent play near as much.
No. putting is boring on the pro level. May as well watch an archery competition. No matter what they do to the courses, watching the putting is boring on the pro level. The chains have to go.

Has OMD even come up with the size for this 'new' basket that's supposed to make 10' putts harder?

Just saying 'smaller' means nothing. With practice I think even a Duffer like me can putt minis into a mini-basket from 10' with decent percentages. Do we go even smaller than that?

Here...let me do a little bit of leg work for you since you're too lazy: Click on "home" at the upper left of this page. Then down about mid way on the right side click on the "Courses" tab to the right and that will show you the most recent courses added. Guess what, of the most recent courses with the make/model of basket NOT ONE has Marksman listed.

Better yet, go to "Browse Courses" and select "Hole type." The only small basket type listed is Gateway Bullseye and NOT ONE course is listed with that type of basket. In fact, there is no listing for Dynamics Marksman which indicates on DGCRs massive database THERE ISN'T A SINGLE COURSE WITH MARKSMAN BASKETS LISTED. Which means if they do exist - there ain't many of them - if any at all.

You are, in fact, a witless dishcloth.
Wrong.

Nope. Clown shoes and eye-patch is the only way to go.

Take away the chains and players just might start using those ultra stars again.

Chains are as big a part of disc golf as discs are. Nobody gets excited at the sound of plastic hitting sheet metal.
