You are right. I was confused about the various mold pieces and the molding process in general. I genuinely appreciate you linking to that diagram. I am not even sure I can explain what I thought was the process, but luckily there are people better educated than myself who can help with that problem. Honestly, learning is what dgcr is best for.

There is a term that I didn't see used (sorry if I missed it) for the bottom of the flight plate, it's the "core" piece. You have the top piece, the wing (or rim) piece and the core piece and they all fit together to form the cavity that the mold creates that plastic shoots into to. On Innova discs, the tooling is engraved into that core piece and displays on the underside of the flight plate. The Roc and Roc3 have different tops and different cores, which creates a completely different flight plate for the two discs.

I believe (but could be wrong because I'm making an educated guess) that the inner rim of a disc is defined by the core as well i.e. the core mold piece looks like a pan, not a plate. So the Discraft tooling on the inner rim would also be found on the core mold piece, just in a different spot.

If you’re referring to my post, I’m more asking about the stamp more than anything. I pretty much already knew it was an R3, cause it doesnt feel like my sweet ranchos.

Asking nicely to refrain from posting inaccurate info doesn't work. So people, shall we say, ask less than nicely. The same thing happens again and again: someone calls out the inaccuracies, things get heated, then some combination of "hater," "stalker," "jackbooted lockstep," or the like gets thrown about. Then things cool down/mods intervene...until it happens again in the same predictable fashion.
This is why I started reporting Casey's posts...

So I played in 95+ degree temps at a tournament this weekend and finally learned a few things...

1. Buzzzes are harder to throw when tired
2. Buzzzes are harder to throw with sweaty hands
3. I think I need to just accept the fact that my game is built more for Comet/Roc style mids

I guess it's time to throw a Roc again...

I threw buzzz's for a while, have no real complaints, could get used to them if it were my only option but they're just not my type of disc.

Only mids I own now are Comets and Rocs, and I haven't bagged a Comet in over a year (I have beat Rocs that cover that slot now), but I'm not getting rid of them either.

That's going to stink. I mean you almost never see Rocs anywhere. It's not like it's the best-selling disc buy the best-selling manufacturer or anything.

I live within an hour or so of Innova East...I can throw a rock on a disc golf course and find a Roc.

Does being so close influence what you throw?
