If you're a craft beer type, I'd recommend switching up the IN portion of the drive to go through Munster and hit up 3 Floyds Brewery. According to Google, it would only add about 15 minutes to the drive.

Excellent beers and pretty good food too.

I just hope the OP has time to play a 1-2 rounds at Lemon Make once he gets to Crown Point.

This is the most talked about trip to Crown Point since the Dillinger Museum opened.
And it's closed now OP, so no need to factor that in the fun.

Not sure the last time you have been to Lemon, but it is far from the complex it once was. Red and Blue have changed a bit for the worse in the last few years. Most of the good wooded holes on blue are gone and all of the ash trees on red have been removed. Silver/Gold is still good, but the changes have made this place just another mediocre complex now.

This was always my plan when going out to Lemon Lake.

Be aware that 3 Floyds is revered by hipsters and is often at max capacity. I haven't been there in a few years, but the last few times I did, there was a line at least 20 deep to get inside (and they don't have all that much seating). Things may have changed, but keep in mind that this may not be a quick stop.

We went last year in late July and stopped by 3F on a Friday around lunch. Walked right in and sat down. Evenings are probably a different story completely.

Sad to hear that.
Played all four Oct 2010 (my very first road trip specifically for DG). The place was in wonderful shape.
I didn't review them, but recall coming away thinking each one fell solidly in to these ratings:

Silver = 4.5
Red = 4.0
Blue = 3.5
White = 3.0

Absolutely loved Silver, and Red fit very nicely into my wheel house. Glad I got there when I did.

It is a shame for sure... on the plus side, silver/gold is still in solid condition and certainly the best of the bunch. Red was also one of my favorites. If you can remember the army of trees on red hole 3... all of them are gone and its pretty much a open short shot now
