Agreed. I'm not in any board meetings with these tours, but the scarce conversations I've had with them regarding video coverage always came across as them trying to get something for nothing, or for the absolute minimum.

As a cinematographer buddy of mine is fond of saying, "Pay peanuts, get monkeys". Everyone wants you to work on the basis of them trickling down profits to you later (for more work).

[Soapbox] Disc Golf businesses won't start evolving until they make audience reaction to their content a higher priority. I think too often it's just "what do we think is cool?" or "who can we beg a favor from?" instead of thinking about how their messages come across. [/Soapbox]

Ultiworld footnote reads:
Quote:
The great irony here is that a golf disc thrown by a professional on a long drive off the tee would actually accelerate beyond 60 miles per hour much faster than a car can reach that same speed.
Besides not being an irony, small or great, no disc thrown by a professional accelerates at all, excepting drop-ins or near vertical putts.

I completely agree with you there. On a smaller scale, you can even look at people who want tournament logos, stamps, etc asking the graphic designers for do their work for disc or product? It's the same way all the way up from what I can tell. Paying with plastic, product, and promises.

thanks for linking that. the article would've gone up sooner, but with DGPT backtracking and deleting the video, had to ask for comment and then attempt to find it out there somewhere on the internet. the story behind that: while it was removed from youtube, and the social media post for it on facebook was gone/no longer visible, I had saved the URL for the facebook post of the video. they never deleted that, so when I went back and checked, there it was.

how things sometimes never disappear from the internet is one of my favorite things.

if they show this again before The Memorial starts I'd be surprised (imo it went up Jan 1 like it was supposed to and that excuse was just a response to it flopping)

Yea I just happened to click on it somewhere after I read Steve's post about the DGI stuff. Might have been on a social media account I don't really remember, lol. It was definitely a well written piece.
