Has someone thrown this disc? Is it any good? Does it have a plus rim?

Check the Ask Discmania thread for my review on both the Proto (and followup with the 1st run). I'm a fan.

I've been throwing an orange proto and a green proto since they came out. When they started out, one was slightly more domey than the other, so one flew dead straight and the other was dead straight with a gentle hyzer finish to it. Fast forward a month or so and the domey one now flies straight. And I intentionally flattened the other one to see how it would affect flight characteristics. It's lost about a half a notch in stability, so it holds a great gentle left to right flight pattern.

I think that a run of the MD in the stiff JL plastic and making them flat top would be fantastic...almost like the old CE QMS around 2001 time frame.

I used to think "I wonder is it possible to make a disc that is very HSS but not LSS at all?" The MD seems to be that disc. Very straight even at full power and the fade is nonexistent.

Yep, this disc is a winner. So easy to throw straight, powers up and down phenomenally. For me, it flies likes a baby FD...can do lasers and shaped lines. Highly recommended.

Sounds like a Mako 3, especially the domey part.

For me Mako3 was more finicky, and would flip if I didnt throw it right. User error I know, but if I cant be 100% clean all the time, I dont want to be all the time afraid of the concequences of when I am not. MD takes unclean form much better, and thus I have much more confidence in it, if that makes sense.

Agreed. I've only accidentally flipped this thing once. Very user-friendly.

I came into this disc with pretty low expectations - the numbers didn't make it sound like anything special, and I really wanted a legitimately understable mid from Discmania - but it's become a staple in my bag. If you want some Friday reading, check out my full review:

Discmania MD: Magically delicious

Enjoy!
