Default Old School Super Softs

Went to Academy today and found two real old super softs. One without a run number and one with the run number of 1.19. Just thought I would share my find. Check out the attached pics.

Does anyone know when they started to put run numbers on the SS? Could the one with out the run number be a 1st run?

I've seen one Omega Super Soft that said Prototype on it, and another that said 1.3

If you end up hating those and want to get rid of them... send them my way!

Hmm, the oldest one I have is a 1.8.

Anyway, the reason I posted it is because there are two colors in the stamp. This is an awful example of it since one of the colors is a rainbow stamp. I can post a better example with the AP's since I actually used to throw those.
AP 1.1

AP 1.3

You can tell from the two that the first stamp has a two-color stamp. Only the part of the stamp that is red in the first disc shows up on the second disc. For you to have a really old Omega it has to have the two colors in the stamp. It was actually a big deal back when Millennium debuted, there were no full-color stamps then. Millennium had to stamp the discs twice to get the effect. Once the full-color stamps came out it wasn't so cool anymore and they dropped the second color.

I forget when they dropped the run numbers on the Omega, but it was in the 20's somewhere as I recall. Those are fairly recent in the grand scheme of things.

FWIW, when Millennium came out those things sold like hotcakes. The first runs were in late '95 and by '97 we were getting the 1.10's. They flew off the shelves. Now it's a dozen years later and they are selling the 1.26's or something like that? It really goes to show you how the demand for those has fallen off.

to support what three putt is saying on the 2 color stamping-when the aurora 1.1's came out the second color of the stamp was already cut out to accomodate 1.2 so they looked kind of weird. i have one but it's black and i can't get a photo of it that's worth a crap.
