I have a friend who has bought one or maybe two DM mystery boxes. It convinces me not to buy one. Personally, the misprint boxes are the only thing with good value, and that's if you know what kind of plastic you want. Discraft's 10-pack misprints have always been one of the best deals on the internet. But it's hard for me to blame Discraft for jumping on the "mystery box" bandwagon, which generates lots of sales and excitement along with disappointing at least 1/3 of the buyers.

Sour grapes.
I play a lot of poker where the money mostly flows from folks playing long odds and missing. But every so often, they hit (like a slot machine) and it keeps them coming back. Games that are so tight because people only play and bet monster hands are awful tables, while on the other hand, profitable tables that are full of super loose cannons can also crack your own big hands. But people do weird stuff for swag. I once played a pot where the house donated a snuggie--a freaking snuggie-- into the pot and a guy at our table blindly bet $50 into the pot before the deal just to win it. Then he got mad when someone had the audacity to call him.

I mean, it's also reminiscent of the housing bubble days when folks were mad that their houses went down in value and their mortgage payments were "under water" so they just stopped paying them out of spite. Not every investment works out.

Exactly. Its a freaking mystery box. You give them $100 with no guarantees you get what you get. Complaining about what is or isn't in the mystery box is like complaining about getting dealt a garbage hand in poker.

Aaaaaaaand this is exactly why I never buy mystery boxes.

I think the reason that so many people are not very happy is because the original listing for this mystery box on Discraft's website was somewhat misleading. They made it sound like all of these mystery boxes would have way more than $99 retail value. This wasn't promoted as a "normal" mystery box. But yes it's pretty clear that it's buyer beware anytime you see the words mystery box, no matter how it's promoted by the vendor.

I didn't get anything I was interested in. My items will all be going into a raffle for my Ace Race anyways. Retail value - $124.97. I could have purchased them for $60.45 + shipping. I gambled and lost, oh well

Pick it up, shake it around, listen for a basket and chains. Then return to sender unopened.

I just want to state I did not buy a mystery box and I am not a "sour grape"

I hope this Mystery Box event has at the least deterred many from trusting this "business practice". If any DGCR member got a decent mystery box with a basket in it, please please please post. So far the odds are looking abysmal
