Default THE NEW.. 100 putts a Day or JYLY Challenge

So I have a big beautiful stack of my favourite putters all the same weight, Envies of course and I'm overjoyed to finally be able to practice better.

I'm committing to 100 putts a day or 700 putts a week for the next month to hone my tourney skills before the season.

Who else is with me?
What is your level of commitment?

Take the pledge and join us!!!!!

Doesn't matter how many you throw, just stop once you start missing all the time, at that point you're just training to miss.

That's why I limit myself to about 10-15 min at a time. If you start to wear down, you'll start practicing bad habits.

Sounds like sound advice I can see how continually missing could be detrimental....

But.... We've all been there in a tourney, you're tired, you're wet, possibly hungry and cranky but you still gotta putt.. I get your point. Maybe it's time to get closer to the basket and work your way back out. Powering through is also skill building..

I remember reading about confidence putting here somewhere from someone and he was saying there's no sense putting from a distance you can't make, especially pretourney. Putt from close and work your way out.

I vaguely recollect Pozzi's (?) Putting game... this probably isn't it...
Personally I start at 5-7ft and see how far back I can go..
5 discs in the basket and step back one stride
3-4 discs stay
1-2 step in

When you're putting 50,100 times you're primarily working on developing muscle memory, powering through when you start to miss might conflict with muscle memory building. I was told to work on putting in shorter sessions, several times a day, approach each putt as if you're in a tournament. And he stressed regardless how many putts each session, as long as you're making them, continue on, but as soon as you start missing often, stop. He was big on quality over quantity. Some of the best advice on putting I have ever heard. Guys pretty much a legend locally btw: Brice Longerbone #24460.

This is how I practice as well. I have my floor marked at 5 through 10 meters. I start at 5 and continue back as long as I'm hitting center chains. If my hits get sloppy, I move back up to 5.

I don't put a time limit on myself. How I hit the basket (or not hit at all) determines when it's time to take a break.
