Default Ninja (2.0)

Just got mine (Proto) last night. it was after dark when I got home so have not got a chance to throw it yet but thought I would start a conversation on it. And no Gateway is not calling it the Ninja 2.0 but I feel like calling it that helps eliminate confusion.

First impressions: Feels/looks like an aggressive 9 speed driver. That wing geometry just looks like it means business. The texture on top of the wing feels good in the hand, I do wonder how it will feel after 18 holes. Bottom stamped so a clean look although this may only hold true for the prototypes. Overall feel is good both of the plastic and the way it sits in the hand with both standard power grip and my 1 finger flick grip. Feels like an Escape in the hand with a bit of texture along the 3/4" or so where your thumb would rest on the wing. That texture feels almost like a slightly roughed up R-Pro so super grippy no matter what conditions are.

I know, no pictures= sadness. I will correct this over the next few days. Saturday will most likely be field work with pics and Sunday I will see about getting some video of myself as well as some of the guys in my league throwing it.

Anyone else got theirs yet?

Interesting...I wonder if that texture on top of wing is deliberate.

It is. From my understanding it's the ninja top on an apache bottom. The original ninja had the textured area around the outer bit of the top. Going to be test flying mine later today. Will be testing it against an Evo Diamond Apache and Champ Thunderbird. Hopefully these two will be a good comparison.

I plan on testing mine vs the Escape since that is the only "stable" driver in that speed class I own. And at least in my circles is the one by which most are judged

Didn't Gateway initially have a disc called the Ninja that wasn't legal in PDGA events? Why would the come out with a new disc with the same name?

Sounds nice. The Ninja top with the Apache wing should equate to a lot of glide. Less stable than the Assassin?

Yeah, it was wider than a Boss, they did one run, they pop up here and there, good for driver contest prizes and the like. They tend to recycle discontinued mold names, the Chief and Scout are the most notable.
