I started out with an 168 Echostar Tern. Loved it from first throw. Then after two weeks of sweet drives I put it in a swampy creek. Gone.

Then a friend order two G* Terns and said he'll sell me one. It was 175 and black but it was a sparkle black. I continue to use it in my bag.

Then I got a 165 Champion Tern. Champion plastic for me seems to take forever to break in. I've thrown some nice shots with it and it's in and out of the bag.

No Tern I've had was as sweet as that Echostar so I'm going to get another one except I wondered if I should get one in regular Star plastic. The Innova numbers are the same. Anyone throw both? Any difference besides feel?

I would say Star vs Echo in my experience is the same, of course different feel. First disc I've put over 400 feet on flat ground. Dang it's hard to control though unless it's downwind. I lost my lighter weight JL just last week too. Sucks. Might try out a GStar also.

Why don't you throw it, I'm interested in the stiffness, grip and flight!

I just want to say that Star Tern's are awesome! I've had a difficult time filling the tailwind/open bomber slot in my bag for awhile now and I think I found it. I've tried some others but had problems getting consistent flights out of them. My first throw hyzer flipped was a bomb (for me). I have been throwing it for 5 rounds now and its been working like clockwork. Really fun disc to throw and is surprisingly controllable. I usually don't bag anything over speed 10 and am not a fan of wide rims but at my power level (320ish prior to the tern) these are sweet!

star terns are amazing for what you are describing. I've dropped a number of strokes at a few local courses just because of this disc. Easy distance.

One they season a bit you can get some impressive controllable bombs.

I traded it so I didn't get to throw it, sorry. But the feel was similar to a gstar tern, only without the flimsy flight plate. very grippy.
