Hi all,
I've been lurking since I started playing in January as one of those COVID newbs that became instantly obsessed. I appreciate all the time people have taken to share advice and feedback, and I continue to learn a ton just from paging through the vast resources on this site. So, I finally took the plunge and joined the forum. Looking forward to interacting with you! Sponsored Links

So tell us a bit more about you? How often do you play? How’s your progress coming along?

Sure, kind of you to ask!
I'm usually getting 1-2 rounds a week and 1-2 field sessions a week. I suffered some knee issues back in May trying to throw backhand too hard with bad form, and got serious about developing a "lifelong" throwing form back in July. Rehab and fitness changes are helping with that and DG is helping re-motivate my overall fitness. Since late July, lots of lurking on advice mostly from folks here helped me develop a pretty reliable 350' hyzerflip and flat BH distance with decent accuracy. Putting is no longer the most embarrassing part of my life, but I'm not betting on it either. My forehand is an affront to forehands everywhere. I'm starting to get below par more consistently on local short tees and dabbling in the longer tees. I haven't joined a tournament yet but that's a goal for next year. I'm always working to improve while having a good time! I'm joining now since I love the in-depth content here, and while I've learned pieces from other sources (sling shot, overthrow, other usual suspects, etc.), I'm interested in developing the best injury free, sound game I can. Also to make some cool online connections. Your community seems like the best place for that, so here I am!

This place will teach you tons. For fun, go back and read a few of the posts from the early days. The threads in the Discs section on the then-upcoming new Innova Destroyer were fun to read.

It definitely has. SW22 just essentially rebuilt my form fundamentals from scratch in the span of the past week, and I'm super pumped to bring it back on the field. Seemed mind bogglingly impossible on my own, and now so obvious after his patient coaching. Amazing. Hope to pay it forward.
Please do share gems that I should know about. As a newcomer I'm fascinated by everything about this sport. Checking out that Destroyer thread now. Happy Thanksgiving all :-) |

20 years playing here...drive for show putt for dough is the truth. Doesn't matter if you can bomb a drive (me) if you can't make your putts (me) or create tap ins from reasonably distanced approaches. The under 200' shots are the real deal. Good luck OP

Welcome. Make sure you learn the secret DGCR handshake.
That's the only part of the game I'm good at. ![]() ![]()
