Here is how the hips naturally rotate. Im a LHBH so this video shows me pulling the imaginary rope from right to left. As I begin my pull my hips point to the right but then as I pull the right hip begins to rotate forward into brace. As I begin to pull notice the importance, force and rotation of the right (rear for LHBH) leg and hip provide into the brace. I hope this helps. Sponsored Links

What we need here is Dr. Scott Lynn with his fancy equipment analyzing some disc golfers.
I wonder if he could be talked into doing it. |

Here is a video of me starting my lawnmower left handed. Again, notice the force and rotation the rear leg and hip make into brace.

Well it depends what you want for the end result. Good form for throwing a disc? Sidewinder. Going round and round? Listen to Ratt like the rest of us. Round(ing) and Round(ing) is free to watch on the interwebz. I'm more of a Whitesnake guy so I'll leave that up to you.

I did this because I had the theory that with a bent elbow my disc maybe floats above and below the swing plane inconsistently, leaking power. With a straight arm everything is on the swing plane. It feels like there would be more power if I bent the elbow and was coordinated enough to do it right. That tennis site you linked to has the upper arm to shoulder angle varying (flapping?) during the stroke. That seems somewhat contradictory to what we talk about here. Dunno though. I want to see some force plate data on one of our top throwers. |

In this video I link, at the moment of brace (where the weight has shifted) to the front leg, how much rotation of the hips have already taken place? This is where the real rubber meets the road

This was interesting
https://carolinas.pga.com/wp-content...g-Catalyst.pdf Check out those two illustrations on the first page. Think we could get this guy to do a disc golf analysis? |
