This rule change wouldn't be beneficial in my mind. The mechanics of marking the lie is much simpler as is than "tail marking" would be. Sure the lie can change by 9 inches or so, but that isn't a big deal.

Changes I'd rather see:
-15 seconds to throw instead of 30 - this would speed up the game dramatically
-eliminate 2 meter rule completely
-standards for disc golf basket chains (weight, structure, number, etc)

5 seconds to throw would have the same effect, that doesn't mean it's a good thing. 30 seconds is enough time that you can line up and think about the throw a little bit without feeling rushed. At 15 seconds, you have to be ready to step up and throw.

No. Just STOP. Why in Gods good name would the PDGA entertain this idea and punish TDs by making them inform all their players of this rule change?

Frankly, the logistical impact of this idea is not small.

I disagree. 30 seconds is more time than anyone should need. 15 is sufficient. Plus you have time to think before you arrive at your lie or step on the tee box.

If the 30 seconds was actually enforced there wouldn't be much debate to begin with. If the 30 seconds aren't being enforced, what are the odds that 15 would be?

What do you mean it isn't enforced? I've seen it enforced. 15 would be more enforceable because it is more realistic. 30 seems like an eternity when you are actually counting it out. 15 would be easier to keep track of.

I didn't vote. It just seems that requiring the mini is simpler than tail-marking optional.

Going back to requiring a mini wasn't one of the choices, so if forced to pick, I'd go with leave it as is.

We just had a major bruhaha at the Memorial (I think) b/c Philo took a couple of decades between throws.

30 seconds is not a lot of time and people go over it all the time waiting for wind, picking a different disc at the last second, etc. IDK why you think 15 would be any easier, is there some sort of limit to the average human's ability to count I don't know about? JohnE seemed to count to thirty and beyond pretty well at that same tournament.

Really make it strategic and use chess clocks where everyone gets so many total minutes for their throws say 60 throws per 30 minutes. You can take more time on some throws which leaves less time to make other throws.
