Default New Homemade Targets...

I'm building a pair of baskets as a wedding present for a buddy...I don't play myself, but have been scouring this forum for pictures and ideas. Here's where I am at the moment (still need some grinding, paint and fine tuning):

I'm having trouble figuring out how to attach the chains. There will be 12 in and 12 out. What I really am having a hard time getting is: Are the inner chains taut, and support the slack in the outer chains? Or is it a little balance between them? Also would it be beneficial to use chain as the attachment point, or a hoop for either inner or outer chains? I don't have time to drive an hour to the nearest course to check out what they have, and from what I remember from years ago they just had outer chains there.

In any event, it's been a fun project. Please let me know any input you have. I'll provide a material workup/parts list/CAD when I finish (looking like ~130$ and 100 lbs. each).

Thanks to everyone here for the content here that let me get this far!

those are very awesome. whats the length from top to basket?

the inner changes are seperate from the outer and a little shorter, so no they're not being pulled from those. most real baskets use hoops at the bottom too

Thanks for the quick replies! They are built to or/exceed PGDA standards. That pic definitely illuminated the inner/outer rings and their relationship! All the round stock I'm working with is 3/8 HR, so it would be really hard making a radius that small. What about using chain rems for the inner and outer chain (3/16" Gr. 30)?

Edit: Also - The difference between the inner and outer line of chains? I'm planning on offsetting the inner to the outer, so if the outside is sitting 22.44" what would be the ideal inside offset be (in your experience/opinion)?
