Sidewinder,

One thing I'm noticing in a throw, and something I've seen in a few of these hogan power move videos is the front hip rising or people being pushed into an upright position after that front hip clears.

Is this something that happens passively, or is this a result of a proper "butt wipe"? I've noticed I can make it happen when I'm just sort of standing around going throw the movements very deliberate, but it doesn't happen in any videos of my actual throw.

I've also noticed, I don't see it in everyone, notably in that slow motion shot of manabu kajiyama from the last Aussie open

Bracing requires resistance/stiffening/extension which may push/clear the hip up or clear back more level.

Sidewinder, thanks. That second video you posted, is what prompted me to ask. I kept expecting it to happen passively if I got everything else right. Thanks again, this made some things make sense. If you are ever in Ohio I owe you a few beers.

Managed to take a step back distance wise, and spinning out as bad as ever. Is there any other resources on not spinning out besides these hogan moves and the butt wipe? I am obviously not getting it, which is insane since I know they work for a ton of people.

Is there some other type of video feedback that I could record that could possibly help? One Leg, crushing a can, something? Just not really sure how else I can really figure this out.

Thanks again.

Awesome, I'll try to get that filmed tommorow. Last time I tried the one leg drill, I couldn't figure out how to get an power or speed into the movement. I've watched the video a few more times and I'm still not sure. Any advice?

Do it with a sledgehammer swing and toss.

Sidewinder,

threw the hammer a bit, and tried to bring that over into the disc doing the 1 leg drill. It feels a little better, like im compressing into my downswing, but not much is translating to getting the disc to get out there.

Same issue as before when I X Step. Im not getting onto my front foot and im spinning out. I feel like im losing any of the tension in building up, when i attempt to throw. Like Ive spent all that energy by the time im into the power pocket.

You can move your hips/weight slightly back in the start of the backswing of the one-leg drill and then Hogan Power Move/Butt Wipe them forward into the top of the backswing/transition. You will notice that your hips/weight is actually reversing backward in your forward swing and your nose doesn't make it over the toes. I'm staying more upright and centered and everything moves more together.

Ok I'll try to get some more throws in tomorrow. I've been attempting to not put weight on that back leg, since with my luck I'll end up not getting it back to the front.
