I took a peek at the distance qualifiers towards the end yesterday. 5 qualifying throws per person, top 4 qualifiers go into the final distance exhibition at the end of the tournament.

575ft was the shortest distance that qualified. Surprisingly that distance was set by Big Jerm. Schusterick and Nikko didn't make the qualifier maxing out at about 565ft. Simon Lizotte had the longest qualifying throw at roughly 660ft (I forgot exact number) throwing his DD2s.

David Wiggins Jr. also qualified, but his longest throw was after his 5 qualifying throws. He threw 765ft.

Conditions were mostly calm yesterday with maybe a 5mph breeze during the afternoon. The field they were all throwing on was pretty flat.

This event is pro men only.

The women's national championship was a few weeks ago in Portland.

Same reason there are no masters - their championship was in May.

I'm guessing this is wrong.

If a woman played in a qualifier (in MPO or maybe even not), or Monday qualifying, and put up a qualifying score, I'm guessing she would be in.

Correct, but they wouldn't be in a seperate division.

Climo, Schweberger, Baldwin, Brown and Schultz all play Masters in majors but are playing Open this week because they have to. It's the exact same concept.

Hopefully sarcasm, but there are no smileys.

The USDGC OPEN Flight is just that...OPEN TO ALL. There are no age or gender restrictions. There are plenty of Masters playing in the Open flight.

There is at least one woman playing in the PF this year. Plenty of women were invited to play in the 2013 PF, including me.

FYI, the event is called the United States Women's Disc Golf Championships or USWDGC, not Women's Nationals.

Technically, the Open Flight is open to any qualifier, regardless of division:

Quote:
A total of five (5) spots will be awarded at each regional qualifying event. The top five overall scores will earn an invitation to compete. Other divisions may be eligible to qualify if they are competing during identical days and on the same course layout(s) as the Open Division. The decision to allow other divisions to compete for qualifying spots is at the discretion of the tournament director. [source: 2013-USDGC-Qualifying-Information-1.4.131.pdf
however, practically speaking, owing to the high level of competition in MPO at regional qualifiers, it is highly unlikely that anyone competing in a division other than MPO would earn an invitation.

Division, age, and gender are irrelevant to the Performance Flight.

It's not just the USDGC. The PDGA's Men's Pro Open is not actually restricted to only men. Nor is it restricted to only Pros. It's Open to all.
