Default Whamo Frisbee Disc Golf Starter set on sale at Target!

I was wandering around a local Target store recently, when I passed the sporting goods aisle, I noticed some Frisbees, so I took a look.

Among the usual catch discs there were two Frisbee disc golf starter sets. Each came with 3 discs.

Is this a good thing? I've thrown a few Whamo discs over the years. A couple I even liked!

Is this a good way to introduce more people to the sport? Or are we that mainstream now?

I started with that same set; bought my set at Walmart. The discs and the plastic aren't that great but they were good enough to get me hooked in this great sport. I quickly outgrew those discs and bought some from Innova, Discraft and other companies.

I think that anything that gets people out there to try it is a good thing.

They had them at Meijers for $20... That is way too much for the quality of the discs. They need to stock up the starter sets for Discraft, and Innova. They are about the same price.

I actually bought a set at Wally World and made a matching set out of my extras.

I keep them in my truck now when friends that have never played want to join me for a round.

What's in there besides an 86? Is there a 91? They make great rollers but they're fragile as heck.

I got the Frisbee brand starter pack as my first discs. My mom got them on sale at Wal-Mart for $3 for each 3 disc set. That's how I got into the game.

The plastic is terrible. It's almost waxy - one tree hit was all it took to break the driver. It split right along the rings on top.

Every once in a while, I'll come across a chunk of one on the course. I guess they're getting people out there, but hopefully they don't give up and think all discs are like that.
