Default Ultimate DG Vacation...

Being a single old fart with no wife & kids to waste money on I have what I like to call "Disposable Income". Back in '85 I spent the summer in Orval, Belgium with my best friend and we pretty much euro-railed all over the place. (including a day trip to east Berlin were I was almost arrested, but that's another story) My time there was great but I had not yet discovered DG and there was probably not that many courses there at the time.

My mom likes to travel and she has gone on extensive tours with my two sisters, but like all mother/daughter relationships there has been tension that has tarnished the fun of it all.

Which brings me to the point of all this...

Yesterday my Mom announced to me that for my 50th birthday she & I were going on a trip somewhere. My first thought was Australia but the 24 hour flight and expanse of the place dulled that idea.

We sat there and talked about it and we decided that a month in Europe would be a fun time. I thought that I would just like to concentrate on England, France, Belgium & Holland. Needless to say I'll be taking my Disc bag with me on this trip. I've already done some scouting and it will fit my plans nicely. My Uncle was in the 3rd armored division in WWII and I have a map where he was the entire time and the first place I want to spend some time is Normandy and there is a course in Caen.

So for the next year and a half I get to plan out our trip which will basically traverse the countries depending on where the highest rated courses are.

If you could put something like this together, where (Courses) would you go?

Nice!

I've been through Europe, and Greece seemed to have the best dg terrain (although when I was there I hadn't started dging by, oh, about a decade so I really wasn't keeping my eyes open for good dg type stuffs).

I think now I'd want to go to Australia. Not sure how the courses are there, or even if there's very many, but it seems like a pretty cool place (based on nature type shows I've seen as well as the many native Aussies I've bumped into over the years).

I'd love to go through Europe. I took four years of German through high school and then again in my freshman year of college. I've always wanted to go there, whether I do and DGing or not. I would think Australia would be awesome too, because you have a few different climate zoned to play in. I would especially love to play in a rainforest! If I couldn't go out of the country for some reason tho, I'd love to take a trip either up or down the entire west coast playing as many courses as I could!

I was in the UK 3 1/2 years ago, but the courses were few and far between, so I didn't even take discs. I've some ancestry from Scandinavia, so I'd say Sweden/Finland/Norway.
On the other hand, I'm gonna get 4 days on Mobile/AL courses soon, and may get to hit LA/AR/TN/FL while I'm in MS. If I make good wildfire money a trip to MI/WI/PA/OH this fall seems like a fine idea, or a nice long fall tour of CA. As the U.S./Canada has 90% of the world's courses, I wouldn't feel too slighted if I didn't leave the continent to golf.

As Germany's DGCR ambassador, I have to advertise a little bit...

Disc golf in the Allgδu

If I were in your shoes, Sweden would definitely be my pick though.

^Beautiful view, great picture. Where's the basket?

The only EuroDG I've played was at Schlotter Park (sp) in Amsterdam. Great Course with the exception of being totally flat.

Here's another view of it. It's 269 feet downhill.

This hole also made the cover of the 2012 Innova Calendar and I think may be one of the prettiest holes in Europe. But that's enough advertising...I didn't mean to hijack the thread.

I'm jealous of your month long vacation, man!
