Default Elusive Discs

Credit to user hurricaine, who inspired this thread with a comment they left in the Alpha thread.

Anyone ever notice that there are certain molds that are extremely well liked DGCR or r/discgolf, but you never see anyone throwing them in the wild?

The Envy is a big one - watch me post a thread on reddit asking for suggestions for a straight-stable driving putter in premium plastic - I guarantee the Envy will bubble to the top. Proof: https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/co...riving_putter/
And yet, I've never seen another soul bag an Envy out on the course, much less throw one.

What is your white whale - a disc that you know is crazy popular but maybe not in your area, or maybe not among the typical denizens of your course?

Everyone out here throws the buzzz or roc. I feel like I’m one of the few that prefers the comet / knows what it is.

Odd, because the Envy is the most seen MVP/Axiom/Streamline disc in our region. East Tennessee is full of them.

Agreed. I have never seen a PD in the wild.

At least in this area, the Envy seems to be by far the most popular gyro disc. After picking one up from a DGCR thread recommendation, I played a BYOP tournament the following weekend. There was a short (180' or so) prize throw-off at the end, and I must have seen 6 people throwing Envies. Yet I hardly ever see anyone throwing any other MVP/Axiom here.

I rarely see comets and envy’s also. We held an mvp vs axiom last year and had about 15 people pick the axiom pack with a soft envy, but i haven’t seen anyone still bagging them. Another one I don’t see often is a leopard. The only time I’ve seen people with these, it was a 150g from the starter pack, but they usually get replaced pretty quick by something heavier and more stable (and usually in a hard to find color tye dye champ plastic).

Like half the site has a Stego, the two in my bag are the only ones I’ve seen in the wild.

Any discmania molds I throw are pretty elusive when I want to get more.

Second streets LOL I just put the OLF in the bag but nobody play with even knew what it was. Spmeone even said "what's that generic thing?" Haha. Also the prophecy but its still a pretty new mold. My buddy bags a kite and jay dub bags an 86 softie..... I saw an old school cat playing the other day with a condor and a beat up 150 aviar.
